THE WREN CONNECTION
So what's the connection with the wren then? Well, it's all down to local dialect. To all and sundry the pronounciation of the village would be "Rain-worth", ask many locals however, and the reply will be "Ren-neth", take the first syllable, change the spelling without changing the sound and there you go! No mystery as simple as that! There are several examples of clubs being nicknamed after birds.
